The old City Hall that housed the City offices, Police Department and Fire Department was renovated into a Public Safety Building starting in November 2004. A dedication ceremony was held during Riverfest 2006 to welcome the Police Department and Fire Department back into the new building. City Hall later moved into the renovated Bangor Savings Bank building on Main St.

Our Women's Self-Defense Class

The Old Town Police Department is proud to periodically host Women's Self-Defense Classes that are free to any woman interested in taking the class. This class covers personal safety awareness and hands on self-defense techniques. The class is instructed by Officer Joshua Loring and Officer Ryan Fitch. Officer Loring and Officer Fitch are Defensive Tactics Instructors for the Old Town Police Department and can use their skills to help teach women these defensive techniques.

The purpose of this class is to teach women personal safety awareness techniques and hands-on defensive tactics techniques to defend themselves should they be attacked. This hands-on class can be tailored to accommodate any age group or level of ability. All women are strongly encouraged to take this class. Participants will not be asked to do anything beyond their limits. This is a very fun and energetic class provided for women that will help them have the ability to defend themselves against a threat if it arises. This class will teach you very valuable skills that could save your life.

Classes are generally four hours long and are a one-time class. All classes are offered at various times throughout the year and usually fill up quickly once they are announced. To get on a waiting list for the next available class, please leave an E-Mail for Officer Loring OR Officer Fitch. Or you can call the the Police Department at (207) 827-3984 and leave a message with either of them. All class announcements are posted to this website, our Facebook Page and local newspapers.
