Officers Receive Recognition Officer Stephen Boyd - In August of 2002, Officer Stephen Boyd and the Old Town Police Department were notified that Officer Boyd had been selected as a Meritorious Achievement Winner of the 2002 Looking Beyond The License Plate National Law Enforcement Recognition Program. The selection process is done by the Highway Safety Committee of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, Officer Boyd's case was selected from among 242 entries that were submitted from law enforcement officers across North America. The entry was identified and submitted by the department's supervisors. The entry was in relation to a November 22, 2000 observation of a reflective license plate on a suspect's vehicle which led to the arrest of a fugitive from justice and the resolution of a drug related homicide. Officer Boyd is to receive a recognition plaque from 3M Traffic Control Materials Division for his efforts in this case.
Officer Debbie Holmes At a November 4, 2002 Old Town City Council Meeting, CRO Debbie Holmes was presented with a certificate of appreciation from the Penobscot County Area TRIAD "with grateful recognition of outstanding community service," for her work on the "Keep Your Eye On Your Purse" program. The program is designed to work with female senior citizens to increase awareness of their purses when they are in public places, which is intended to reduce the victimization the these people and the thefts of their purses. On June 22, 2004 Officer Debbie Holmes was presented the Robert Trojanowitz Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award by the New England Community Policing Partnership. The ceremony was held in Manchester, New Hampshire. Officer Holmes was one of only 2 recipients for all of New England
